Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in St Albans is looking for a Carer Support & Wellbeing Worker to enhance community mental health care. Job Overview

We have a new opportunity for a Carer Support & Wellbeing Worker to join us in delivering high quality community mental health care within the North West of Hertfordshire. We have a vacancy in our multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team based in St Albans serving the needs of people within this diverse locality. This role is to support carers who provide care and support to their loved one. We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate people who hold a strong belief in recovery for people with severe and enduring mental health problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for coordinating work relating to the Carers Agenda and carry out Carers Assessments.
  • Be able to use their initiative when dealing with carers.
  • Maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with carers, service users, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Be able to develop in order to meet the ever changing demands and needs of the service.
  • Direct work with carers.
  • Carry out assessments.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification or mental health certificate level 3 or equivalent, or agreement to undertake such training as soon as resources permit.
  • If you are a graduate visa holder, you must have at least 12 months before expiry.

  • Knowledge of local resources including welfare benefits and employment support.
  • Good written communication skills including ability to write reports and letters.
  • Good verbal communication skills including the ability to observe and listen effectively.
  • Ability to use IT programmes effectively including email, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Ability to analyse information and create innovative personalised solutions.
  • Ability to research information and resources.
