DESCRIPTION:

Delta Care Ltd is a CQC registered provider of care and support service to individuals around the North West, offering a range of residential and day care services to meet individual care needs. Delta Care services help people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the benefits of living independently in their homes and local communities.

Due to continued success we are seeking to recruit a Home Care Assistant. The successful candidate will provide a personalised service to the service users who require extra care. As well as supporting service users where necessary, you will assist service users to maintain their confidence and self-esteem, whilst enabling people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control. This is a great opportunity to give back to your local community.

The role is offered with guaranteed hours as well as flexible working the only expectation is that staff have some availability at weekends. No experience is necessary as full paid training will be given.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
  • Assisting service users with getting up in the morning, such as washing, bathing and dressing; and helping with undressing and getting to bed in the evening.
  • Making meals, drinks and supper time snacks where necessary, checking dates on foods, and ensuring meal prep areas fridges and cookers are kept clean at all times.
  • Assisting with toileting and with changing clothes and/or bedding where necessary, emptying and cleanse commodes, and washing and ironing clothes and bed linen.
  • Assisting with other tasks of daily living that the person cannot manage – this may include cleaning, shopping, pension collection, paying of bills, completing expenditure sheets etc.
  • Reporting any significant changes in the health and circumstances of the service user.
  • Encouraging users towards a degree of independence and activity appropriate to their ability.
  • Working within the organisation’s Health and Safety policy, ensuring the principles and practices of Infection Control are adhered to throughout the work force.
  • Contributing to the supervision of service users who tend to wander, neglect themselves or put themselves at risk, within an agreed plan in consultation with the office and service user.
  • Completing medication record sheets and care sheets.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
  • A friendly approach and the ability to put service users at ease, whatever their physical or social needs, with the ability to be tactful and sensitive at all times.
  • A high level of patience and the ability to deal with shy or anxious service users, able to think quickly and solve problems as they arrive.
  • Good stamina, manual dexterity and a certain level of physical strength.
  • Excellent communication skills with a responsible and flexible attitude to service users.
  • A commitment to the job, the client and their families.
  • Drivers are preferred.
  • Live within a commutable distance.
