Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a Care Assistant to assist a 17-year-old with cerebral palsy in the Stanley area. This role involves helping the young man access public transport and participate in social activities, promoting his independence while providing personal care support. The position requires 4 hours weekly during term time and flexibility during holidays. Experience with personal care and an Advanced DBS is needed. The role offers £13 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities, particularly cerebral palsy.
  • Advanced DBS clearance is a requirement for the position.

This young man enjoys socialising and would like support to access the community. He has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. He would like to get out and about and engage in activities away from the family home to promote his independence. He has a great sense of humour and enjoys a good joke.

This role is for 4 hours per week (Saturday or Sunday), during term time and 8 hours per week during school holidays, there is more flexibility on days during school holidays.

£13 per hour

Duties will include:

  • Assisting this young man to access public transport
  • Supporting with activities/visits of his choice
  • Personal care needs

Additional requirements/information:

  • Experience in supporting with personal care needs desirable
  • Moving and handling experience desirable
  • Willingness to build up a relationship with this young man and promote independence
  • An Advanced DBS will be required
