Cardiorespiratory Support Worker

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic person to join our inpatient echocardiography service.

Echocardiography (heart scan) is used in a variety of inpatients to aid in diagnosis and management. We perform these in the Cardiac Hub with specialist machines and a specialist patient couch.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the transportation of patients to the Cardiac Hub from the wards and back. They will assist specialist staff where needed to ensure any investigations can be performed to a high standard. Interviews for this role will be face to face only with no option for a remote interview

Main duties of the job
  • Communication with patients on the wards, checking patient's details are correct.
  • Assist clinical members of the team in the examination room, including assisting with patient moving, chaperoning and supervision.
  • Where appropriate provide comfort and reassurance to patients and accompanying relatives.
  • Carry out and record patient observations, under the direction and supervision.
  • Provide a safe patient transfer and transportation service throughout the directorate and wards.
  • Communication with patients and staff, responding appropriately to requests for assistance, information, and complaints.
  • Ensure patient changing and waiting areas are tidy and always maintained.
  • Ensure adequate patient care is provided including personal hygiene, helping patients to change, assisting with use of the toilet.
  • Under the direction of the clinical members of the team, confirm with wards and other departments patient appointment times and transportation requirements.
  • Removal of patient IV Venflons following contrast examination.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of clean linen in patient changing and examination rooms as appropriate.
  • To put away clinical stores and maintain storerooms in a clean and tidy fashion.
