Job description

Post includes R and R premium of 15% if registered with HCPC or AHCS and signed off as competent at band 6 level.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Cardiac Scientist at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our busy and friendly team. The applicant should be experienced in both non-invasive diagnostics and invasive/ PCI, angio, brady implants and should be working as an independent cardiac practitioner in these areas.

The Trust offers a range of invasive and non-invasive investigations including Physiologist led exercise stress testing, tilt testing, ambulatory monitoring, device follow-up and complex invasive procedures including angiography, PCI, PPM, ICD / CRT implantation and EP. The Tunbridge Wells Hospital site holds BSE Departmental Accreditation in Transthoracic echocardiography, Stress Echo, TOE, Contrast and Bubble Studies. We run a Physiologist Led Valve Clinic at both sites and assist in the Rapid Access Heart Failure Clinic. The Maidstone site is currently in the process of applying for accreditation. We also run a physiologist lead ILR implant service.

Due to a rapidly expanding cardiology service, significant investment is planned for the service. This will provide an exciting opportunity to be involved in the cutting edge of cardiology and to help shape future cardiac services in Kent.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be given an opportunity to work towards BHRS accreditation. Continued professional and personal development is actively encouraged, and the successful candidate will be given opportunities and supported to develop their postgraduate skills.

The successful applicant should have BSc (Hons) or MSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Science). Practitioner or scientist registration is desirable.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac) or equivalent
  • ILS or equivalent
  • RCCP or AHCS Registration
  • Working or achieved professional competencies (BSE accreditation, BHRS or IBHRE)
  • Experience as a Cardiac Physiologist post degree qualification.
Skills
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge
  • Understanding of all cardiac procedures and techniques even if not yet performing some of the more complex procedures.
  • An understanding of audit procedures.
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Cardiac Physiologist demonstrated by competency to perform and report accurately on all cardiac investigations undertaken. These should include angio, PCI as well as a range of non-invasive cardiac diagnostics.
