Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Call Handler / Receptionist to join our busy admin hub, supporting clinical services in the Rotherham Care Group, who want to participate and contribute to achieving excellent quality of care for our patients. We provide frontline mental health services to people who are suffering from a mental health problem in the Community.

In return for this commitment we will support and develop your potential and skills through regular supervision and development in this busy role within our friendly Trust.

The successful applicant will be reliable and able to provide a confidential, quality administration and telephone service.

Attention to detail is essential whilst working within the team. Applicants should have the ability to deal with people at all levels in a calm, polite and professional manner and should possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Due to the nature of the service, you will be required to display tact and diplomacy when talking to service users and relatives and have an empathetic nature in difficult circumstances. You will be working in a fast paced environment that will require you to deal with challenging situations and may, at times, require the need to travel between various locations.

Please note this is primarily an office based role which may on occasion require agile/home working.

As the first point of contact for our service users and other professionals, you will need to have excellent customer service skills and a helpful and friendly approach.

It is important that you are able to work effectively in a fast paced office environment, handling large volumes of telephone calls, some of which may be challenging and emotive. You will need to be flexible and adaptable to the varying demands and changing circumstances and priorities of the services. Communication and team working are essential qualities to succeed in this role.

A high standard of word processing is essential, and you will be experienced in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Systmone would be a distinct advantage.

Desirable requirements for this post are a good standard of education (5 GCSE's including Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent), experience of working in a call handling environment or previous experience of working in the NHS would be advantageous.

If you don't already have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 2 apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) employ around 4000 talented colleagues who are very much appreciated, valued, and respected.

We have a wide portfolio which includes mental health, physical health, learning disability and drug and alcohol services.

We are passionate about enhancing the quality of our service and we work hard to attract and select the right colleagues for our organisation. Our goal is to employ those who share our passion for providing first class care while remaining committed to our vision and values. Please view our Strategy using the link below:
