Overview

Job DescriptionDescription:

Summary: Responsible for purchasing inventory and supply management of all base materials and over laminations for ALG production. Responsible for competitive pricing, maximizing inventory turns, minimizing obsolescence, sourcing qualified materials and acceptable delivery. Collaborates with sales and production so materials meet all ALG and customer requirements and provide total customer satisfaction.

Fundamental Duties and Responsibilities
Materials
  • Build and execute purchase orders for raw materials and facility supplies.
  • Anticipate and respond to problems while effectively communicating to those impacted, both internally and externally to minimize the impact on ALG’s production and customers.
  • Use ERP system data to analyze order patterns, quantities, recognize and report on slow moving items and maintain recommended inventory levels from production and sales to meet customer demands with minimal obsolescence and maximize inventory turns.
  • Maintain material records for all divisions, updating pricing, delivery cost, purchasing options, etc.
  • Coordinate with production, product management and sales to provide solutions to customer material issues.
  • Strive for 60%/40% or 40%/30%/30% split on purchases from and secondary vendors.
  • Assist with approval of invoices for payment.
Planning
  • Plan jobs for production according to ALG’s quote guidelines, lead times and customers’ required ship dates.
  • Update ERP system with Material ETAs communicated by vendor acknowledgements & updates.
Logistics
  • Ensure UPS, FedEx, & LTL Pickups are completed daily.
  • Follow Missed Pickup Procedure when necessary.
Other Areas
  • Responsive to all ALG personnel, customers, and vendors in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Project positive and professional behavior / attitude.
  • Additional tasks, duties and special projects that may be assigned, as necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Bending and twisting for 2 hours.
  • Sitting at a desk 4 hours.
  • Standing and walking for 2 hours.
