Job Description

Job Summary: Responsible for the selection, purchase, and delivery of merchandise that aligns with our philosophy of quality, price, fashion, and brand. Conducts analysis to develop merchandise strategies and assortments.

Responsibilities
Market:
  • Apply and understand negotiation skills.
  • Evaluate fashion, quality, price, and brand during the selection process to determine value.
  • Determine quantities to buy based on OTB guidelines, supporting store profiles and events.
  • Identify and execute incentive purchases using product and technical knowledge.
  • Stay informed about market conditions related to price, resources, and fashion trends, adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, both new and existing.
  • Visit stores and competitors to analyze merchandise mix, pricing, and trends.
  • Seek opportunistic purchases in the market.
Business Analysis:
  • Conduct ongoing analyses to inform merchandise strategies, using available systems.
  • Review orders for value and feature opportunities.
  • Identify weekly market strategies based on needs and opportunities.
  • Prepare analyses and information for strategy meetings.
Administration & Problem Resolution:
  • Manage purchase orders, follow-ups, and deliveries.
  • Handle multiple tasks, balancing priorities like vendor communications.
  • Oversee incentive purchases through all stages, ensuring quality standards.
  • Manage Merchandise Assistants.
  • Collaborate with merchandising and support teams to resolve issues.
Individual & Interpersonal Skills:
  • Support TJX values of openness and diversity in the work environment.
  • Treat colleagues with dignity and respect, fostering teamwork and supporting development across departments.
  • Identify opportunities to develop Planning and Allocation staff through store visits, trend discussions, and negotiations.
