  • Up to £40,000 per annum

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where no two days are the same? We are seeking a Buyer to join a growing organisation in Northwich. This role offers the chance to combine day-to-day buying responsibilities with longer-term strategic input, all while playing a vital role in keeping production running smoothly.

The Role

The Buyer will manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from raising orders and monitoring supplier performance to forecasting stock levels and supporting cost-saving initiatives. A large part of the role focuses on expediting; working closely with suppliers to ensure goods arrive on time and production schedules are met.

Key responsibilities include :
  • Raising, tracking, and expediting purchase orders in line with MRP requirements, Bills of Materials, and production plans.
  • Liaising with suppliers daily to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings for bespoke products to ensure correct procurement of parts and materials.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and supporting stock control strategies to prevent shortages or excess.
  • Producing clear reports on purchasing activity, supplier performance, and inventory data.
  • Supporting sourcing activities and contributing to strategic category initiatives.
  • Working closely with manufacturing, warehouse, and stores teams to maintain supply chain efficiency.
About You

We’re looking for someone who can thrive under pressure, prioritise effectively, and maintain a strong focus on delivery performance. You will need :

  • At least 2 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or expediting, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Strong expediting skills with the ability to juggle multiple supplier commitments and deadlines.
  • Competence in interpreting technical drawings and specifications (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Sage 200 (training provided if needed).
  • Strong Excel skills, particularly for forecasting and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • A can-do attitude and the drive to succeed in a demanding environment.
What’s on Offer
  • Salary of up to £40,000 per annum.
  • Permanent, full-time position based onsite in Northwich, Cheshire.
  • The opportunity to combine tactical buying with strategic procurement in a varied role.
  • A supportive working environment where your contribution will directly impact manufacturing performance.

If you’re a Buyer who relishes a challenge, enjoys working with suppliers, and can keep on top of multiple priorities, this could be the ideal next step for you. Apply Now!
