About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor (Repairs & Maintenance) to join a busy and customer-focused Maintenance Services team. This is a key role, directly contributing to the delivery of high-quality homes and excellent services for residents.

You will carry out internal and external inspections of occupied and void properties, diagnose defects, and specify appropriate remedial works. You will manage complex repairs and maintenance projects from inspection through to completion, working closely with residents, contractors and internal teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake routine and complex property inspections, including damp and mould surveys
  • Produce detailed work specifications, condition reports, cost estimates and recommendations
  • Manage complex repairs and maintenance projects, monitoring quality, value for money and customer satisfaction
  • Liaise effectively with residents, contractors and third parties throughout the works process
  • Handle and resolve complaints, including Councillor and MP enquiries, seeing issues through to completion
  • Support disrepair cases and associated site visits
  • Use NHF SORs and other systems to raise accurate work orders and reports
  • Manage budgets and variations in line with financial controls, authorisation limits and fraud prevention requirements
  • Liaise with loss adjusters and oversee insurance-related works (e.g. fire, flood and theft damage)
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and best practice
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
What We're Looking For
  • HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline (or extensive relevant experience with a commitment to ongoing CPD)
  • Strong experience surveying a variety of housing stock, ideally within social housing or a similar environment
  • Proven ability to undertake complex inspections and produce clear, itemised specifications
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, building pathology, housing and contract law
  • Experience of working with NHF SORs
  • Strong budget management and cost control experience
  • Excellent customer service skills with the confidence to manage complaints and sensitive cases
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance
  • Strong communication skills and experience managing contractors and contracts
