Job summary

A leading engineering recruitment firm is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing firm in Leeds. This role focuses on developing innovative low-carbon heating solutions, contributing to sustainable projects within the building services industry. The ideal candidate will have an HNC in Building Services and at least 2 years of experience, including expertise in AutoCAD and Revit. Qualifications

  • A minimum of an HNC in Building Services or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in building services.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of heating design and calculations is a huge benefit.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop feasibility studies, concept designs, and detailed mechanical designs.
  • Survey sites and assess existing building services systems.
  • Prepare specifications and tender documentation.
  • Calculate HVAC loads, flow rates, and energy consumption.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers on control philosophies.
  • Manage mechanical design within agreed budgets.
  • Produce equipment schedules, selections, and supplier quotations.
  • Attend client and internal meetings providing technical input.
  • Support site operations and resolve mechanical issues during installation.
  • Contribute to O&M documentation and post-project evaluations.

📍 Location: Leeds
💰 Salary: Up-To £40k + Electric Company Car or Car Allowance
🕐 Mon - Friday - 40 Hours Per Week with flexible start time & up-to 3 days WFH

The Role:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role within the Building Services design team, leading mechanical engineering activities across various projects. This includes everything from concept design and estimating to detailed design and project support. The role will involve working closely with sales, project teams, and site engineers to ensure successful project delivery, from RIBA Stage 2 through to Stage 6.

Key responsibilities include:

The Person:
