Building Maintenance Inspector – South West London – £30 per hour (Umbrella)

A South West London Local Authority is recruiting an Interim Building Maintenance Inspector to provide technical support and ensure high-quality delivery of maintenance services across its housing stock.

Job Purpose

The role involves managing routine and non-routine maintenance works, ensuring void properties are processed efficiently, managing contractors, and providing technical expertise on disrepair claims. You will also be responsible for upholding health and safety standards, safeguarding requirements, and ensuring council policies are consistently applied.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support on routine and non-routine repairs.
  • Manage void properties, ensuring efficiency and minimising delays.
  • Investigate and respond to repairs and maintenance correspondence.
  • Prepare and issue repair orders, monitor works, and approve variations.
  • Undertake pre- and post-work inspections to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Draft specifications and manage competitive quotation processes.
  • Prepare technical recommendations for external decoration and repair programmes.
  • Support insurance claims (fire, flood, subsidence, etc.), including inspections and reports.
  • Oversee health & safety compliance for contractors.
  • Provide technical surveys, estimates, and reports for other council departments.
  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met in line with council policy.
Requirements
