Overview

We are recruiting for a Building Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering and Facilities team at the Omega Business Park distribution centre, located off Junction 8 on the M62. This state-of-the-art facility supports our store network with advanced automation. You will drive seamless operations at the forefront of automation and innovation, focusing on planned preventative maintenance, quickly addressing issues to minimise downtime and keep both the distribution centre and office facilities running smoothly. You will supervise contractors, manage assets, and contribute to developing technicians and apprentices, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. You will work with a dynamic team to uphold safety, performance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance: Execute all scheduled PPM tasks in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to standards set by the facilities maintenance work management system (ARMS).
  • Fault Finding and Rectification: Identify and rectify faults within the building maintenance scope, ensuring operational efficiency and minimising downtime.
  • Repair and Work Requests Handling: Address repair and work requests promptly for the distribution centre, office facilities, role cages, and ancillary equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Contractor Supervision: Oversee on-site third-party contractors, ensuring completion of required documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of critical spares through the inventory control system to facilitate smooth maintenance operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safe systems of work policies and procedures, particularly when working at height or in confined spaces.
  • Asset Management and Development: Contribute to the development of the ARMS asset management system, ensuring accurate records and efficient maintenance scheduling, while providing support and coaching to technicians and apprentices.
  • Issue Escalation: Escalate issues encountered during maintenance activities to the Building Maintenance Team Manager for resolution.
Qualifications
  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship desirable or qualifications in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • A mix of electrical and mechanical skills; understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics is preferable.
  • Welding experience preferable, although full training is provided.
  • Working at heights is essential; ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent problem solving and fault diagnosis skills.
  • Ability to plan and organise work schedules between production requirements;
  • Ability to work on your own with minimal supervision; able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting issues and provide resolutions.
Benefits
  • £42,626.48 per annum (plus 19% night shift allowance paid between 10pm - 6am).
  • Average 38.61 hours per week.
  • 3 on 3 off – 12 hour shifts; Nights (6pm - 6am).
  • Full-time employees receive 28 days of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing to 33 days after 5 years of service. Pro-rated leave for part-time or alternative arrangements.
