Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Branch Manager to lead a successful electrical wholesale trade counter in Ashford, Kent. This is a senior, hands‑on role responsible for the overall performance of the branch, including trade sales growth, customer retention, new business development, and team leadership. The Branch Manager will take full ownership of sales performance, manage day‑to‑day branch operations, and deliver consistently high standards of customer service. The role is ideal for a senior electrical wholesale professional who has managed people and sales and is ready to step into, or further develop within, a top‑level Branch Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Commercial Performance

  • Full responsibility for branch sales performance, turnover, and margin
  • Drive trade sales growth through retaining and developing existing trade customers, re‑engaging lapsed accounts, and winning new electrical contractor and trade accounts
  • Monitor KPIs, customer activity, pricing, and margins
  • Plan and deliver local promotions to increase trade counter sales and footfall
  • Take proactive action to address underperformance

Customer Service & Trade Counter

  • Maintain excellent trade counter customer service standards
  • Build strong, long‑term relationships with key electrical trade customers
  • Act as the senior escalation point for customer queries and issues
  • Ensure the branch has a strong local reputation for service, knowledge, and reliability

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop a small team of three
  • Set clear expectations around sales, service, and conduct
  • Coach team members to improve sales performance, product knowledge, and customer engagementManage rotas, cover, and daily branch discipline
  • Create a positive, professional, and commercially focused branch culture

Product Knowledge

  • Maintain strong technical knowledge across electrical wholesale products

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure smooth day‑to‑day branch operations
  • Oversee stock ordering, availability, and stock control
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, health & safety, and industry standards
Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Extensive experience within the electrical wholesale industry
  • Strong background in trade counter sales
  • Proven ability to drive sales, turnover, and customer growth
  • Solid technical knowledge of electrical wholesale products
  • Experience managing or supervising staff

Desirable

  • Previous senior or supervisory role within an electrical wholesaler
  • May be the candidate’s first Branch Manager role

Hours of Work

48 hours per week +

Branch opening hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
  • Saturday mornings: one in three
