Job summary

A healthcare service provider is seeking Qualified Band 5/6 Biomedical Scientists to work across Hematology and Transfusion at their Huddersfield and Calderdale hospitals. The ideal candidate must be a state-registered biomedical scientist with HCPC registration and have completed a specialist portfolio. You will participate in a 24/7 rota and contribute to a busy and dynamic department. This position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and improve patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Must be a state-registered biomedical scientist with HCPC registration.
  • Specialist portfolio must be completed.
  • Must be qualified at Band 5/6 level.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in the 24/7 rota will be expected after training.
  • Play an active role in the busy and friendly department.

Qualified Band 5/6 Biomedical Scientists

An exciting Job opportunity has arisen for a well‑motivated, flexible and innovative individual working across the specialism of Hematology and Transfusion.

The service serves a population of over 400,000 patients and is based at both the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and the Calderdale Royal Hospital, where you will be expected to work across both sites.

The department is fully UKAS and MHRA accredited and has HCPC training status.

The Hematology department is well equipped with Siemens Hema analysers and coagulation analysers are Werfen ACL TOPS.

The Blood Transfusion service is delivered via the Grifols Eflexis automated Blood grouping system and operates a state‑of‑the‑art Blood Track System – Haemonetics, ensuring quality and safety for the collection, processing, storage and administration of human blood components. This system electronically records every stage of the transfusion process, improving patient safety.

Responsibilities
  • Participation in the 24/7 rota will be expected following a period of training.
  • Play an active role in the busy and friendly department.
Qualifications
  • State‑registered biomedical scientist with HCPC registration.
  • Completed specialist portfolio.
  • Qualified at Band 5/6 level.
