Description

Who You Are / Your Next Challenge

We are searching for a highly organised and results focused individual to join Petroineos Trading Limited “PITL” as our new Biofuels Operator based in our London, Charing Cross office. Reporting to the Products Operations Manager, you will be part of an ambitious Products Operations team in our wider Products business unit with a large portfolio and solid experience within the Biofuels market. You will specifically be responsible for the day-to-day trading operations including the supply and execution of energy trading transactions in Biofuels and Renewable Feedstock markets.

This Biofuels Operator position requires close collaboration and commercial decision making with a range of key stakeholders including Traders, Refinery Optimisation team with terminals, refinery scheduling and planning, in addition to shipping / counterparties including inspectors, loss teams, vessel agents to name a few.

Ideally, you will have previous exposure and demonstrable experience delivering successful operations of a similar nature and scale even if its with a related commodity. As such, the successful candidate should be able to work quickly with precision and accuracy and can demonstrate a proactive and solution-driven approach to dealing with challenges. The individual must also have excellent communication skills to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and be capable of adhering to strict project timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the daily operations of biofuels and renewable feedstock product portfolio from trade inception to completion.
  • Obtain clean acceptance of vessels/barges in a timely manner.
  • Issue voyage orders to shipping/counter-parties and monitor progress of vessel, informing trading of any slippage or speed-ups in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Legal Affairs, Regulatory Compliance and Risk departments to manage bespoke transactions.
  • Appoint approved inspectors as required.
  • Ensure cargo loading and discharging adhere to any credit or L/C requirements.
  • Assist sustainability manager with sustainability issues.
  • Accurately update Symphony & Biofuels inventory tool in a timely fashion.
  • Check all calculations relating to the trade (freight, demurrage, product, inspectors, cargo superintendents, gains/losses, insurance and additives).
  • Minimise profit leakage and where possible, make or assist in claims where necessary.
  • Establishing and maintaining good and professional working relationships with internal and external counterparties.
  • Maintain excellent HSE standards, including accurate records of each cargo including prompt and accurate filing.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational processes and adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in the role
  • Ideally hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent work experience with sound knowledge of biofuel storage, handling, and transport.
  • Previous commercial operations or logistics experience in an international trading company or a similar role relating to the biofuels / petrochemical sector is desired.
  • Good understanding of international trade practices, supply chain optimisation, and profit / loss factors.
  • Ability to translate trader strategies into operational plans.
  • Ability to work independently in handling varied and complex operational issues.
  • Understanding of global shipping and relevant documentation (L/C), is essential.
  • Teamwork – Fosters ethical business relationships with customers, suppliers and co-workers. Works effectively with peers, customers and management, maintaining a positive and pro‑active attitude.
  • Communication– Clearly presents thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing.
  • Organisation – Exhibits a highly organised approach to detailed work and maintains accurate and effective files.

Please note: This is a full‑time, permanent position with the job based in Charring Cross, London. Due to the nature of this role, the ability to work frequent afterhours and weekends to complete operational tasks is essential. The role is available to be worked in a hybrid capacity of 4 days in the office / 1 day from home.
