Job description

I am delighted to be partnering with an exceptional global US law firm to recruit a Billing Assistant for their London office. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a career in billing within a prestigious legal environment.

What You’ll Be Assisting With
  • Respond to requests from Partners and legal team assistants to troubleshoot billing issues and propose constructive solutions to reduce inefficiencies.
  • Keep Partners informed of any billing-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Obtain approval for write-offs as required.
  • Review attorney time entries to ensure compliance with client requirements, recommending corrections where necessary, including resolving issues such as block billing and incorrect task codes.
  • Review cost entries to ensure compliance with billing guidelines, recommending corrections and improvements to existing processes.
  • Collaborate with the Collections Team to proactively follow up on aged invoices and resolve short payments promptly.
  • Produce monthly prebills along with draft and final bills for attorney review. Prepare transactional and closing prebills, drafts, and final bills promptly, applying in-depth knowledge of client requirements and industry standards to ensure accurate billing.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
  • Forward invoices for e-billed clients to the Electronic Billing Team and assist with any issues to ensure successful submission, including resolving rejected invoices within two billing days.
  • Exercise sound judgement when handling and completing Partner requests.
  • Serve as a resource for other members of the Billing Department, offering technical expertise on specialised billing processes.
  • Provide detailed expense back-up to accompany invoices when requested.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a legal billing position.
  • Aderantsystem experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
