Job description
BHSCT Neonatal Family Liaison Nurse Band 7

The post holder is accountable for their service and will: promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient/client experience, provide effective leadership and management, contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives.The Neonatal Family Liaison Nurse will have overarching responsibility for assessing and implementing the psychosocial needs of families from admission, during their stay and through to discharge from Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).The Neonatal Family Liaison Nurse will provide support and guidance for bereaved parents and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to DHSSPS and NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, for example, safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicinal products.
  • Adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that organisational goals are reflected in own and the multidisciplinary teams’ objectives and in ward/department plans.
  • Contribute to the development of the Trust’s policies and strategies, where appropriate.
  • Maintain own professional and personal development in accordance with the NMC Code (2008), standards and professional guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain relationships based on mutual respect communicating on a regular basis with children and young people, and their families in the provision of care and services.
Skills and Qualifications
  • On part 1 of the NMC Register (adult or paediatric branch of the NMC register).
  • Must have 405 course or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ post registration experience in a Neonatal setting which must include a minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience at band 6 in a Neonatal Intensive Care.
  • Provide evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
