About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Bank Oncology Pharmacist to join our dynamic team in Harlow. The successful candidate will support the oncology team in overseeing daily Oncology operations, and ensuring the delivery of best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership and Support: Provide specialist advice and clinical leadership for patient care, including the clinical verification of prescriptions according to GPhC & BOPA guidelines. Offer timely, expert clinical advice to medical and nursing staff, ensuring high standards of patient care.
  • Operational Excellence: Support continuous improvement within Central Pharmacy operations by collaborating with external departments to ensure efficient and safe care. Help maintain an organized facility, ensuring colleague training and assessment, and contribute to business projects and Key Value Drivers.
  • Onboarding and Training: Assist in the onboarding of new business and patients, develop new prescription templates, and create training materials. Provide both operational and clinical training to ensure the team is well-prepared and knowledgeable.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with SOPs and best practices in prescription processing. Adhere to standards set by regulatory bodies, including RPSGB and GPhC. Participate in departmental audits and ensure operational processes comply with GMP and MHRA standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a GPhC-registered pharmacist, ideally with experience working in a hospital or home healthcare environment. Much of the role involves checking for accuracy, so strong attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to stay focused over long periods of time. Other qualities you’ll need include excellent communication skills, a systematic approach and a commitment to continuous professional development.

  • It is essential for this role that candidates have completed, or are currently working towards BOPA, SACT Passport 2 A,B and C in solid tumour and haematology.
Qualifications, Training & Experience
  • Experience working on Oncology wards.
  • Experience in clinically screening Oncology SACT prescriptions.
  • IV Oncology experience.
  • Involvement in ordering chemotherapy.
  • Proficiency in using and managing electronic prescribing systems for Oncology patients (e.g., iQemo).
  • Ideally, a post-graduate qualification specialising in Oncology.
  • Experience in clinical decision-making.
  • Experience in training and upskilling members of a pharmacy team.
