Housekeepers are responsible to provide and maintain cleaning and catering services as part of the Hotel Services team to office, patient and communal areas within the Trust. Ensuring a clean, safe and supportive environment for staff and patients working towards their recovery.

This post is only open to current employees of TEWV. Any applications received from non-TEWV employees will not be considered.

You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be working in a multi-professional team and will need to be able to think on the spot and be empathetic.

Main duties of the job: We require a friendly, positive thinking, organised and motivated individual to work as a Bank Housekeeper within the Trust's Hotel Services Team.

The post holder will be based at Bankfields Court, Normanby, Middlesbrough and will be required to work shifts between the hours of 7am-6pm including weekends and bank holidays.

Experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment are essential as you will be working in a demanding environment. Catering and food service experience would be beneficial along with a passion to providing high standards of customer service.

Experience of working or volunteering in a mental health and learning disabilities is essential. Also, the ability to provide a positive approach and image, when working with relevant client groups throughout the Trust.

Candidates must possess Food Hygiene Certificate level 2 or work towards successful completion in an agreed timescale.

Essential are; Numeracy, Literacy and IT level 2. (Equivalent to GCSE grades 9 to 4 (A* to C in old GCSE grading system))

NVQ Level 2 Housekeeping is desirable. All candidates should demonstrate a commitment to undertake further training and qualifications as deemed necessary to the position within agreed timescales.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (to be completed within 12 months)
  • Numeracy and Literacy to level 2
  • ITQ Level 2
  • Experience in use of cleaning materials and equipment
  • Experience in general cleaning duties
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a mental health or learning disabilities environment

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping (within agreed timescale)
  • Experience cleaning in a hospital environment

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Knowledge of National Standard of Cleanliness
  • Knowledge of deep-cleaning procedures
  • Knowledge of Patient-Lead Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE)
  • Good understanding of confidentiality

Skills:

  • Able to follow protocols and instructions
  • Able to demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail in all tasks
  • Safe, efficient and effective techniques in the following areas, producing consistently high standards: Cleaning; Deep cleaning; Use of motorised cleaning equipment e.g. floor scrubber, carpet cleaner; Use of kitchen equipment; Preparation and serving of food; Use and cleaning of regeneration ovens; Washing and ironing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Breakaway techniques
