This is a Bank Healthcare Assistant role at Thornford Park Hospital in Thatcham, Berkshire, operated by Elysium Healthcare. The role involves providing care and support to individuals with a range of mental health conditions, working within a multidisciplinary team. The role offers flexibility with zero-hour contracts, allowing candidates to choose their own shifts, and a range of benefits including weekly pay, free meals and parking, and mandatory training.

Main duties of the job

As a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you will be joining a team that works together to provide care for people with a range of mental health conditions. Your experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker or Care Worker will be utilized to support individuals in leading a valued and fulfilled life. The role can be challenging at times, requiring a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance. However, it is highly rewarding to see people improve and regain their independence. You will be working in a 24/7 service with 12.5-hour shifts, giving you the freedom to choose the shifts that best fit your lifestyle.

Whether you’re looking for extra shifts to boost your income or a flexible job that fits around your lifestyle, if you’re an experienced Healthcare Assistant in the UK you can join our staff bank and, after completing a paid two-week induction, you’ll have access to available shifts at Thornford Park Hospital in Thatcham, plus the potential future option to work bank shifts regionally at other Elysium services across the region.

There is no minimum number of hours that you need to work, although it is recommended to work as often as you can to ensure your induction knowledge and familiarity with the service is retained.

Weekdays, nights and weekend shifts are regularly available, which are easy to view and book through an app. Within a few taps you’ll have the nursing shifts at Thornford Park secured that you want.

Whether your nursing experience is from the NHS or private sector, you can join the team as a Bank Healthcare Assistant with an hourly rate that includes a 12.07% uplift to cover annual leave, plus have access to a range of benefits including free meals on duty, free parking and more.

What you will be doing

You will join the team that works well together to provide care for people with a range of Mental Health conditions. Whether you are currently a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker or Care Worker, you will utilise your experience to support people to lead a valued and fulfilled life.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week because of you.

The service operates 24/7 with 12.5 hour standard shifts. As a Healthcare Assistant on our bank you’ll be on a zero hour contract, giving you the freedom to choose which shifts you want to work each week.

Where you will be working

You will be working at Thornford Park, a 130 bedded independent hospital which supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services there is also a PICU Mental Health Service.

The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation.

Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder, and females and males in a PICU service.
