We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Hewell, a category B remand prison based in Redditch, Worcestershire. HMP Hewell has a fast paced healthcare environment delivering care to males aged 21+, with a range of needs including substance misuse and long term conditions. Within this role you will be working closely with our senior nurses to deliver care which includes, first night prescribing, discharge prescribing, urgent follow up for duty doctor, general practice and Substance Misuse prescribing. We are looking for a General Practitioner who is a team player and enjoys working with a busy environment where no two days are the same.

Hours

Sessions available will be between Monday to Friday 9am-9.30pm Saturdays 1pm - 5pm or 2pm - 6pm

Salary

This is a bank role with a salary of £89 per hour

Main duties of the job

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required
  • MBChB or MBBS

  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
