Job Overview

StaffBank for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust is seeking enthusiastic Community Nurses to join our pool of Staff Bank workers. This role is with Surrey Downs Health and Care (SDHC), which delivers care closer to people’s own communities through our Primary Care Networks and our innovative partnership of local NHS organisations.

Principal Duties
  • Work as part of the team undertaking lead responsibilities as negotiated and agreed with the District Nurse.
  • Treat all patients as individuals, respecting their privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Assess individual care needs and implement and evaluate holistic programmes of care.
  • Involve, support, inform and educate family/carers.
  • Take every opportunity to promote the health and wellbeing of the patient.
  • Develop effective communication and liaison systems.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive, signed and contemporaneous records according to SDHC procedures.
  • Facilitate and undertake training and professional updating for the team and students.
  • Act as an assessor and mentor to qualified and unqualified staff.
  • Maintain and monitor standards of evidence‑based nursing care.
  • Maintain professional and clinical integrity in line with NMC guidelines.
  • Support and mentor team members and participate in clinical supervision activities.
  • Work without direct supervision, liaising closely with the senior team member and deputising as required.
  • Be responsible for timely patient care and data entry.
  • Cooperate and partner with all other professionals and agencies involved in patient care.
  • Act upon procedures that protect vulnerable individuals when necessary.
  • Participate in the SDHC Clinical Governance Strategy.
  • Participate in the SDHC Risk Management Strategy.
  • Undertake any other duties required by the post.
  • Staff may be requested to move bases temporarily or permanently as service needs dictate.
