Job description
Band 8a - Haematology and Oncology Advanced Pharmacist

The post-holder will provide specialist clinical knowledge,skills and decision making to haematology and oncology services, the pharmacydepartment, and wider Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

They will be a key member of the Pharmacy team, supportingthe development and delivery of pharmacy services relating to haematology andoncology.

Main duties of the job
  • They will be responsible for developing and providing a clinical, pharmaceutical service to haematology and oncology services, utilising clinical leadership skills.
  • They will support the safe, timely, appropriate, efficient and cost effective use of medicines within haematology, oncology and wider Trust.
  • They will provide expert advice on all pharmaceutical matters which arise around haematology, oncology and the wider Trust whilst ensuring compliance with risk management frameworks, medicines management standards and medicines legislation
  • They will comply with pharmacy procedures, clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management
  • They will lead and develop clinical audit and undertake research
  • They will deputise for the Lead Pharmacist for haematology and oncology
  • They will contribute to enhancing patient safety and ensuring a positive patient experience for all patients.
  • They will support training, education, and development of Trust staff.
  • They will support the development, delivery and evaluation of pharmacy services related to the use of medicines in haematology and oncology.

Qualifications
  • Masters degree or equivalent in Pharmacy.
  • Full current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Experience
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of clinical and pharmacy practice.
  • Demonstrable commitment to Continuous Professional Development.
  • Demonstrable hospital pharmacy experience delivering clinical pharmacy practice at a specialist level.
  • Demonstrable clinical pharmacy experience of service provision to haematology and oncology patients.
  • Ability to participate in seven day working / on-call services if needed.
  • Ability to travel to external meetings, both local and regional.
