A community healthcare provider is seeking an experienced nurse specializing in palliative and end-of-life care for children. The role involves providing specialist nursing interventions, creating care plans, and collaborating with families and healthcare teams. Strong communication skills and experience in child care are essential. The position offers flexibility in hours and locations, contributing to a high standard of care. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the team before applying.
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated nurse who is passionate about palliative and end‑of‑life care to join the Children’s Specialist Palliative Care Team. Alongside the Clinical Lead you will play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit and the implementation of national guidelines.
As a member of a well‑established dynamic team, you will provide specialist advice and support to children, young people and their families, and to all other members of the health‑care teams involved in their care.
The team consists of a specialist palliative care consultant, senior palliative care nurses, senior family support workers and nurse associates. We work very closely with the Children’s Community Nursing and Rapid Response Teams, and the acute settings, to ensure a high standard of care is offered throughout the children’s/young people’s palliative care journey.
BCHC has more than 5,000 staff across Birmingham and the West Midlands, delivering over 100 clinical services in people’s homes, health centres, clinics and inpatient facilities. We provide integrated, personalised care for children, young people, adults and community services, including two community hospitals, services for people with learning disabilities, the internationally recognised West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre and one of Europe’s leading Dental Hospitals and School of Dentistry.
Please see the Job Description and Personal Specification for more details of the main responsibilities of the role.
We encourage anyone considering applying for this post to visit the team prior to application and interview, and to discuss the role with Rebecca Carless, Team Leader for Children’s Community Nursing, Palliative Care and Rapid Response.
