Band 5 Registered Nurse - Ward 16

We are seeking an experienced Band 5 Nurse to join the Cardiac Care Unit/ Ward 16.

We are a busy 30 bedded Cardiology Unit. The ward comprises of 10 monitored cardiac high dependency beds (Level 2) and have the capacity to monitor a further 12 patients via ambulatory telemetry. We are part of an established Cardiology service with a fully functioning Cardiac Centre.

Our service comprises of caring for patients undergoing Coronary Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Permanent Pacemaker insertion and provides an out of hours service for insertion of temporary pacemakers. We also care for patients with various cardiac related illnesses such as Arrhythmias, ACS (NSTEMI/ STEMI) and Heart Failure.

We offer a very friendly, supportive and exciting work environment committed to training and development of our staff. Currently we have a newly appointed Practice Development Nurse in Cardiology, dedicated to the training and development of our nursing teams. We are proud to support the Trust with the Preceptorship programme for newly qualified and newly appointed staff within the ward and cardiology division.

We require individuals who are forward thinking, well organised and motivated to deliver a high standard of care and have a keen interest in cardiac care nursing.

Main duties of the job

Administration of medication including intravenous drugs.

>Care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures such as coronary angiography and other investigations.

Participate and support patients with nutritional and hygiene needs.

Participate in practical supervision and assessing of students on placement.

Communicate with medical and multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment and discharge planning.

Complete nursing assessment and care planning.

Perform and record patients clinical observations on nerve center, escalate using NEWS2 and SBAR.
