Job description
Position Overview

Band 5 Nurse in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Service – 22.5 hours per week. The post is based at Pembroke Dock Clinic, with regular duties at Tenby and WGH clinics and provision of cover at Sexual Health Clinics across Hywel Dda.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine and complex contraception services, management of sexually transmitted infections, cervical screening, pregnancy advisory, abortion services and psychosexual counselling to approximately 35,000 patients annually.
  • Deliver confidential, sensitive and non‑judgemental sexual health advice, both virtually and face‑to‑face, respecting patients’ cultural beliefs and practices.
  • Advise patients on methods of contraception and risk reduction, and manage the detection and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
  • Conduct consultations for termination of pregnancy, assessing and discussing treatment options in a supportive, non‑judgemental manner in accordance with NMC guidelines and the Abortion Act 1967.
  • Assist medical staff during termination of pregnancy services, support patients before, during and after the procedure, and refer them to appropriate support services.
  • Undertake formal academic, theoretical and practical training to develop integrated sexual health skills within an agreed timescale.
Qualifications & Requirements

Registered health‑care professional. Desirable ability to communicate in Welsh; English or bilingual applicants are equally welcome. The Health Board offers language support to meet minimum Welsh language requirements during employment.
