Overview

A Vacancy at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Role and Training

This is a 2 year fixed term training contract leading to a level 3 pharmacy technician qualification. The successful candidate will become a registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

The trainee will undertake distance learning and participate in a comprehensive in-house training programme provided by the team. They will have the opportunity to rotate through the different areas within Pharmacy. In addition to on-the-job training, apprentices spend a minimum of 6 hours per week in classroom-based learning.

Responsibilities and Progression
  • Work towards the attached job description and gain competencies to perform the duties of a qualified pharmacy technician.
  • Learn about pharmacy services under the guidance, direction, control or supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other staff.
  • Undergo a 2 year comprehensive training and educational programme while working towards the pharmacy technician qualification and GPhC registration on successful completion.
  • Maintain progress and meet the requirements of learning agreements signed by the trainee, the educational provider and the workplace.
  • Participate in rotations across hospital pharmacy to gain training, experience and competency assessment under supervision.
Working Arrangements
  • Working hours: 37.5 per week, including weekend and late duty on a rotational basis.
  • Will cover a bank holiday shift once each year.
  • Rotations across Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust sites.
  • Annual leave entitlement in line with Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions.
