Overview

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is actively recruiting a Band 4 Therapy Assistant to join the therapy department at King George Hospital. You will work with the frailty team to encourage patients to get up and move and exercise. The role offers admin and clinical support to therapists, with opportunities for continuing development through an established in-service training programme. The post involves strong written and verbal communication and some experience as a therapy assistant. You will be well supported by experienced therapists.

Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled routine and non-routine clinical and technical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams and clerical staff associated with the team.
  • Accept routine patient referrals as defined within the framework matrix, assess and treat according to protocols and guidelines.
  • Monitor patient progression and make alterations to interventions as required.
  • Discharge routine patients once their therapeutic goals have been met and an appropriate discharge plan established.
  • Work independently with access to direct supervision as required and maintain close communication with the Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to facilitate patient care.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Motivated, dynamic and innovative individual with some experience as a therapy assistant.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide admin and clinical support to therapists.
  • Commitment to continuing development with an established in-service training programme.
