Band 3 Theatre Services Coordinator - Hub Elective theatres

We have an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Services Co‑ordinator at Solihull Hospital Surgical Theatres, who will be an integral part of the wider theatres team. This role will entail assisting to ensure appropriate and effective delivery of services to support and maintain the environment and services to our patients and the department.

The workload will be varied and at times; being able to prioritise your workload, liaise with colleagues and multitask efficiently will allow you to perform the role effectively. Success will see you use your excellent communication and organisational skills and be confident to make judgements unaided. You will be able to work proactively to problem‑solve and work on your own initiative.

You will work within Theatres and be exposed to live operations to include Colorectal, Urology, Breast, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Robotic & Upper Gastrointestinal. Prior to applying you may wish to consider if this is a comfortable environment for you to work in.

You will cover an array of Theatre‑based activities to include:

• Working collaboratively with Housekeeping, Decontamination and Portering colleagues ensuring our patients receive the best service during their time with us.
• Supporting Theatres with the collection of patients.
• Circulating in Theatres.

• Ensuring all stock levels of consumables are monitored.
• Liaising with companies and sterile services to ensure specialist kit and implants are available and ready to use in theatre.
• Ensuring environment is maintained and kept tidy.
• Preparing area of work for change or deep clean.
• Flexibility across the department working with the wider team.

All the above comes with a remuneration package of a Band 3 – starting salary of £24,072 rising to £25,674 along with benefits to include 27 days + bank holidays, with the opportunity to buy and sell leave and a renowned NHS pension.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Trust approved assessment process for Literacy and Numeracy at level 1 or Certificates for Maths / English (E).
• Care Certificate / NVQ 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent knowledge training and experience gained through working in a clinical practice setting (E).

Experience

• Evidence of recent working in an acute hospital / relevant healthcare environment (E).
• Recent employment in a theatre setting in a hospital setting (E).
• Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Word, Excel and Outlook) (E).
• Experience of using IT systems (E).
• Experience in undertaking a range of physical observations and clinical skills relevant to the role (E).
• Evidence of, or ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles of team work and communication in a theatre environment (E).
• Can demonstrate understanding or the role, knowledge of care and care related procedures associated with the practice setting (E).
• Can demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and can relate this to the role (E).
