Responsibilities
  • As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
  • The primary role of the Senior Nursing Assistant is to work as a team member under the direction and supervision of registered nurses, giving clinical and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team, so that an efficient and responsive service can be provided for all patients, in all areas and clinical specialties within the Outpatient department.
  • The Senior Nursing Assistant must be able to work on his/her own initiative, provide a safe and customer-focused environment, offering patients and their relatives a caring and supportive service.
  • The Senior Nursing Assistant will provide phlebotomy services to support the outpatient clinics.
  • Ensure that all the consultant, clinical examination/treatment rooms are clean, tidy and ready for use.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment, linen, patient information leaflets and documentation is provided in all communal clinical areas and for each of the consulting rooms as appropriate.
  • Test urine, measure weight, BMI, height and take blood pressure of all patients as required.
  • Document all results and inform trained nurses/clinicians of abnormal results where appropriate.
  • To provide phlebotomy services, to expedite the patient’s journey within the OPD.
