Job summary

A technology firm is seeking an experienced AWS Engineer to join their team remotely. This role involves building, managing, and automating cloud infrastructure in AWS, working closely with engineering teams to deliver cloud-based solutions. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience with AWS services and containerization technology. Available for an ASAP start under a 6-month contract at £600/day.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing common AWS services like EC2, RDS, S3.
  • High-level competency with containerization and deploying services to Kubernetes.
  • Ability to script in Shell, Bash, or Python.

As an AWS Engineer you will work closely with the corporate technology team to build, manage, automate, and support their cloud infrastructure in AWS.

You will also be working with the product engineering and cloud infrastructure teams, focusing on delivering, operating, and evolving cloud-based database, caching, and message brokering solutions.

The position demands someone who is detail-oriented, possesses high technical competency, and is driven to stay current with evolving technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to implement technical solutions, mechanisms, and procedures that help the business operate efficiently.
  • Provision, configure and maintain AWS data services and infrastructure, using infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, et al).
  • Take initiative to identify and seize opportunities to eliminate waste, redundancy, and complexity.
  • Manage a queue of work requests to meet service level objectives and KPIs.
  • Execute incident, problem and change management processes and reporting as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience managing common AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, CloudFormation etc.)
  • Scripting abilities with languages such as Shell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience with GitHub or DataDog.
  • Previously worked with an on-shore / off-shore model.
  • High level competency with containerization and deploying services to Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS.
  • Experience in basic administration of MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB and/or ElasticSearch.
  • Knowledgeable about configuration management frameworks such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible.
  • Experience operating infrastructure deployments with Terraform.
