Automotive Training Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Automotive Training Assistant to join a school full‑time and support the vocational Automotive provision.

About the Role

As an Automotive Training Assistant, you will:

• Work alongside the automotive teacher to support and guide students aged 14-16.
• Assist with practical automotive workshops using industry‑standard equipment.
• Support students' personal and vocational development in a learning environment that mirrors the world of work.
• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment, encouraging responsibility, good conduct and positive attitudes.
• Offer pastoral support and mentorship to students who benefit from alternative provision, helping them stay engaged and build confidence, resilience and life‑skills.

Person Specification / What We Are Looking For

• A strong passion for the automotive industry, cars, and hands‑on vocational skills – previous school experience is not essential.
• A genuine motivation to support young people, especially those who benefit from alternative provision, may have struggled in mainstream school, or need additional pastoral support.
• The ability to build meaningful relationships and mentor students with empathy, consistency and respect.
• Flexibility, patience and a collaborative working style to support both practical workshops and personal development.

Experience working with young people or in education is desirable, but enthusiasm, commitment, and the right attitude are equally important.
