Senior Automation Engineer - 6-Month Contract

📍 Belfast, Northern Ireland | Hybrid (2 days in office)
💰 Daily Rate: £400 (Outside IR35)

The Opportunity

We're looking for a hands‑on Senior Automation Engineer for a 6-month contract to accelerate automated test coverage across a high‑profile platform. This is a delivery‑focused role for someone with strong experience in Cypress and TypeScript, contributing to reliable, maintainable automation across critical user journeys.

You’ll collaborate closely with QA and engineering teams, improving automation practices and providing practical input to strengthen the overall test automation capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, write, and maintain automated UI and API tests using Cypress/TypeScript
  • Contribute to and improve existing automation frameworks and patterns
  • Reduce manual regression effort through maintainable automation
  • Execute and debug tests locally and in CI/CD pipelines
  • Identify, investigate, and clearly document defects
  • Support sprint planning with estimates and input on test approaches
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure quality is built in early
  • Support PCI or compliance‑related testing where required
Tech & Tools
  • Cypress / Playwright / TypeScript (preferred)
  • API testing (Postman or equivalent)
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI)
  • SQL & data validation
  • Git version control
  • Jira or similar issue tracking
Nice to have
  • Experience with cloud platforms, regulated environments, or data pipelines.
