A Primary School in Westerhope is seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant with strong autism experience to join their Additional Resource Provision (ARP). This role is focused on working with a small group of KS1 children with autism and additional needs, providing 1:1 and small group support in a structured, nurturing environment.

You will be working with a team who are known for their friendly, helpful and welcoming manner.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing consistent, calm, and patient support to Year 1 children with autism in the ARP
  • Supporting communication through visual aids, structured routines, and tailored strategies
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver EHCP targets
  • Helping children regulate emotions, develop independence, and build confidence
  • Creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment where every child feels valued
About you:
  • Experience supporting children with autism (essential)
  • Confident using strategies to support communication and behaviour regulation
  • Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Flexible and proactive, with a strong commitment to inclusion
  • Available immediately and able to commit full-time
  • You have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service
