Butler Rose Public Practice are delighted to be supporting a highly respected Top 15 firm with the recruitment of an Assistant Manager or Manager to join their Non-Profit team in the City of London.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced blended audit and accounts professional with proven non‑profit sector experience to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and progress their career with one of the UK's most forward‑thinking firms.

The Role

As an Assistant Manager or Manager in the firm's Not for profit department, you will manage a portfolio of clients valued between £250k‑£500k+, delivering a range of audit, accounting, and advisory assignments to agreed deadlines. You'll work closely with Partners, supporting a portfolio that includes charities, independent schools, Oxford colleges, religious organisations, NHS charities, and occasionally commercial clients for those seeking a mixed portfolio. This role suits a professional who enjoys building lasting client relationships, presenting to Boards, Governors, and Trustees, and playing an active role in the growth and development of both the team and the firm.

Role Requirements
  • Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients within the non‑profit sector, overseeing all stages from planning to final review.
  • Lead, mentor, and support junior team members, providing constructive feedback and contributing to their professional development.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, HMRC, and professional advisers, ensuring strong relationships and excellent service delivery.
  • Review and finalise audit and accounts files for Partner approval, supporting tax compliance and liaising with specialists where needed.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings, sector events, and seminars, actively contributing to pitches, proposals, and business development.
  • Promote collaboration across departments and uphold firm values while contributing to internal improvements and best practice.
Person Requirements
  • ACA / ACCA qualified with at least 3+ years' experience within a similar blended audit and accounts senior level role working for a prominent UK based firm.
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of not for profit clients.
  • In‑depth knowledge of UK GAAP and auditing standards.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Confident presenting to senior stakeholders including Governors and Trustees.
