Field Service Technician - Audio Visual Systems

Location: Manchester + surrounding area

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (DOE) / Company vehicle + fuel card provided

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join our growing service team, supporting a wide range of commercial audio-visual (AV) systems across the Midlands region. In this customer-facing role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing systems on-site, and ensuring our clients' AV solutions are operating at their full potential.

This is a hands‑on position ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and a passion for delivering outstanding service in dynamic environments such as retail, hospitality, and corporate spaces.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Responding to AV service calls within agreed SLAs across the Midlands.
  • Diagnosing and repairing AV faults efficiently, aiming for first‑time resolution.
  • Advising on parts or products that require replacement to restore system functionality.
  • Supporting small installation and upgrade projects when needed.
  • Collaborating with service coordinators to ensure client satisfaction and timely service delivery.
  • Keeping accurate records through mobile apps and client portals.
  • Managing van stock and buffer inventory effectively.
  • Offering guidance and technical support to other engineers when required.
  • Playing a role in continual improvement of service delivery processes and customer experience.
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the AV industry or a related technical field.
  • Strong fault‑finding skills across commercial audio systems (100v line, low impedance setups).
  • Solid knowledge of visual display tech including projectors, LCD screens, and LED displays.
  • Familiarity with control systems such as Q‑SYS and Crestron (advantageous).
  • Confident working with IT networks and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to manage time independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence (clean) and a valid passport with no travel restrictions.
  • Flexible approach to working hours - occasional out‑of‑hours support may be required.
