A local educational institution in Ferndown seeks an Attendance Officer dedicated to improving school attendance. The ideal candidate will monitor records, support families, and implement attendance strategies while working closely with the school’s teams. This is a demanding role requiring excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. The school offers professional development and support for its staff.
We are seeking to appoint an Attendance Officer to work closely with children, staff and families to manage attendance across the school. The successful candidate will play a key role in building strong relationships with families and external agencies, working collaboratively with them to improve attendance across the school.
This is a busy post and will require someone who is well organised and able to work under pressure. Flexibility is essential as it may be necessary to work additional hours at busy times of the year.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they meet the essential elements of the person specification and will be subject to pre-employment checks including an Enhanced DBS Check, Child Barred List check, satisfactory references and a health check and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
Online search on shortlisted applicants will also be conducted. This check forms part of safeguarding checks and will focus on suitability to work with children. A person not on the appointment panel will conduct the search and share information only if findings are relevant and of concern.
This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are protected and do not need to be disclosed to employers.
