What is the opportunity?

As an Associate in our Institutional Client Credit Management – Corporate & NBFI team you will manage a portfolio of credit relationships within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets. You will work closely with other groups within Capital Markets and the Bank to deliver a full range of credit and banking services to multinational and other large corporate relationships.

What will you do?
  • Primarily support RBCCM's Risk Solutions Group (RSG) in the origination, onboarding, maintenance and management of the non‑lending credit relationship with institutional clients from industries such as Precious & Base Metals and General Diversified.
  • Ensure timely preparation of (i) transaction requests (which may include but not limited to new credits, restructurings, renewals, waivers, documentation review, establishing lines for trading and cash management, regularizing ETRs, indicative risk ratings); (ii) annual reviews of assigned portfolio and ensuring the data integrity of CCMS, RBC internal client credit management system.
  • Participate in team deliverables with respect to regulatory/audit requests
  • Ensure transactional requests are reviewed and approved within policy
  • Completion of ad‑hoc projects and other duties (including presenting to key stakeholders) efficiently and effectively in order to support the team meeting planned and unplanned demands
  • Develop expertise in various industries and trading products, policies and guidelines, and provide value added advice to internal partners
  • Ensure compliance with Bank Policy
  • Ensure that bank systems correctly reflect key terms and conditions of agreements and other documentation for the assigned portfolio
  • Interact extensively with other functions of RBC Capital Markets, the Bank and occasionally interact with clients, legal counsel and other external contacts
What do you need to succeed?
Must‑have:
  • Academic background with a minimum of Bachelor's level accreditation with an emphasis in finance, economics or quantitative discipline
  • Prior experience and understanding of derivative trading products would be an asset.
  • Understanding of ISDA master agreements and CSAs, primarily credit terms within ISDA and CSAs.
  • Strong credit and analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasoned conclusions and recommend a course of action
  • Previous banking experience with relationship management, structuring and writing of credit proposals, credit processes, policies, risk analysis would be an asset
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to interact at all levels within a large organization
  • Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong general PC Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Nice‑to‑have:
  • MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA) or a post‑graduate degree with a focus in finance, economics or quantitative discipline would be an asset
