The Opportunity

We are working on behalf of a well-established contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across a range of sectors. Project values range from £200k to £9m, with the majority of work typically between £1-3m.

This is a great opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is capable of working confidently on live projects, but who is also keen to develop their skills and progress within a supportive and collaborative commercial team. The business has a genuine family feel, low staff turnover, and places real emphasis on nurturing and developing its people.

The Role

You will support the commercial management of several projects, working closely with senior commercial staff and site teams. The role offers excellent exposure to the full project lifecycle and real scope for career development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with cost control and commercial management of projects
  • Preparation of subcontractor packages and procurement
  • Subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts
  • Assisting with interim valuations and cost reporting
  • Managing variations and change control
  • Supporting the preparation of final accounts
  • Liaising closely with site teams, clients and subcontractors
The Candidate
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (main contracting experience preferred)
  • Comfortable working on projects typically valued between £1-3m
  • Able to work independently when required, while remaining keen to learn
  • Commercially aware, organised and proactive
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveying or related qualification
