Job summary

Devon Partnership NHS Trust is seeking to recruit two full-time Band 4 Assistant Psychologists to join the Riviera Core Mental Health Team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a community mental health setting and to contribute to a psychologically informed, recovery-focused service.

About the Service

The Riviera Core Mental Health Team works with adults experiencing a range of moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The service takes a collaborative, compassionate approach and is currently undertaking training in Open Dialogue, supporting the development of relational and network-based ways of working across the team.

Applicants should have:

  • BA or BSc in either Psychology, or modular studies or related fields
  • Relevant experience of working with people with mental health difficulties
  • An interest in group work, formulation, and relational approaches to care
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with individuals experiencing distress

Main duties of the job

Working under the supervision of qualified psychologists and senior clinicians, the post holders will:

Plan, deliver and co-facilitate psychoeducation groups for service users

Undertake one-to-one work with clients, contributing to the assessment and management of risk

Support the development of psychological formulations to inform care planning and intervention

Assist with psychological assessments, outcome measures and clinical documentation

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support high-quality, person-centred care

Contribute to service development, audit and evaluation activities where appropriate

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience, and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of people who use services across a wide range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
  • Experience gained during supervised training of working in applied psychology
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to integrate complex data; make highly skilled evaluations and decisions.
  • Clinical placement and/or supervised practise.
  • Further training in applied / clinical psychology interventions.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
Qualifications
  • BA or BSc in either Psychology, or modular studies or related fields
  • BA or BSc in Psychology eligible recognised by the British Psychological Society.
