Job description
Overview

We are excited to offer three 1 year fixed-term vacancies for Assistant Psychologists in The Bay (Lancaster & Morecambe, South Lakes and Furness).

The post holder will be an integral and valued member of their respective teams, supported by Clinical Psychologists and multidisciplinary colleagues, including Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists and support workers. Weekly clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist is provided.

The role involves psychological assessment, developing psychological formulations of specific problems, delivering 1:1 and group interventions, and indirect work within the team, with family members, carers and external agencies. There will be opportunity to participate in service development projects and to deliver training. An interest in working with individuals across the lifespan and within a multidisciplinary framework is essential. Prior paid or voluntary experience is not required; we welcome applicants who have gained psychological knowledge and skills through personal experiences.

Main duties

The Inpatient, CMHT and Home Treatment Teams provide services to people with complex mental health needs. Psychologically informed care and psychological therapies are valued within the teams and network. The posts are expected to support each other and help develop access to, and understanding of, psychology within the Adult Mental Health service. The posts sit within a wider team of psychological practitioners in The Bay area, with potential opportunities to develop connections across the wider community. The service supports development of specific interests and ongoing career development.

Although based in Lancaster and Morecambe, the role involves working across The Bay locality (South Lakes, Furness and Lancaster & Morecambe), including working from multiple bases and travel between bases. For CMHT and Home Treatment Team posts, there may be community travel. Hybrid working may be available to align with service needs.
