Job description

Assistant Project Sponsor - Development of Ruminant Emissions Research Facility

Location: AFBI Hillsborough
Hours: 1 day per week (8:00am - 4:00pm)
Rate of Pay: £24.59 per hour
Duration: Until end March 2026

Job Purpose

Following approval of the Outline Business Case (OBC) by DAERA in April 2022, the DAERA/AFBI project for the development of a bespoke Ruminant Emissions Research Facility (RERF) at AFBI Hillsborough is well underway. The project is approaching the stage where CPD will procure an Integrated Supply Team/Contractor to construct the facility.

The RERF will be a key facility for the Hillsborough Sustainable Livestock Systems Branch, enabling measurement of all gaseous agricultural emissions from ruminant animals housed in the building. The facility will support DAERA\'s scientific work programme and other key AFBI funders in research and development into mitigation of livestock emissions.

A Deputy Principal (DP) is required one day per week through to March 2026 to:

• Undertake final quality assurance on all drawings/specifications for the RERF prior to CPD procurement.
• Assist in the development of new midden/above ground slurry tanks and Green Growth Projects (including small ruminant calorimeters), specifically with specification development and quality assurance of plans.

A good knowledge of farm livestock buildings is essential.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following:

1. Level 5 (Foundation Degree) or higher in a subject related to construction project management
   AND
   At least 3 years' demonstrable experience in the construction of agricultural buildings and/or a good understanding of agricultural systems.

OR

1. Level 4 (HNC) or higher in a subject related to construction project management
   AND
   At least 4 years' demonstrable experience in the construction of agricultural buildings and/or a good understanding of agricultural systems.
