Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as a Telecoms Fibre Assistant Project Manager (APM) in our Knowsley office.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the planning, coordination, and execution of fibre optic network projects within the telecommunications industry. You will work closely with Project Managers and various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

This position will be based at our Knowsley Office, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm.

About the role

As the Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager in managing all field & back-office resources to ensure targets (Operational & Commercial) are achieved throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Responsibilities of the role
  • Project Coordination: Assist in coordinating all aspects of fibre optic network projects from initiation to completion, including scheduling, resource allocation, and task assignment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between project managers, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and alignment of project objectives.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Quality Control: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that the workforce is fully accredited in all Openreach, council and MJQ requirements, working in line with MJQ accredited training school
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues and assist in developing mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  • Budget Monitoring: Assist in monitoring project budgets, tracking expenses, and identifying areas for cost savings.
  • Site Visits: Conduct site visits as needed to oversee project progress, address any issues that arise, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Team Support: Assist with training, coordination of tasks to ensure they have sufficient work in line with targets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Being proactive to adapt current processes and improve efficiencies of current way of working.
Skills & Experience
  • Have a strong telecommunications background, preferably with field-based experience.
  • Knowledge of fibre optic network infrastructure and telecommunications industry standards is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a project coordination or assistant project management role, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Can prioritise work, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage business expectations.
  • Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
