Assistant Planner

Location: West Midlands Region

Salary: £28k-£35k

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and review of planning applications, zoning proposals, and development plans.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate planning proposals and ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Support senior planners in preparing reports, presentations, and planning documents.
  • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to land use, transportation, and environmental impacts.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, developers, and the public, to gather input on planning projects.
  • Research current planning policies, legislation, and urban development trends.
  • Maintain and update planning records, maps, and GIS data.
  • Assist in preparing feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
  • Provide administrative support to the planning team as needed.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • A degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Geography, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in town planning and urban development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with GIS software or mapping tools is a plus.
  • Proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a passion for creating sustainable communities.
