Assistant Manager - (Packhouse)

Location: Ashford, Kent
Pay: £15.44 per hour / £32,115 per year
Shift: 10 hour shifts, 4 on 3 off (6:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Our client, a leading fresh produce company that sources, imports and distributes a wide range of products particularly grapes to retail, food processing and wholesale markets, is looking to recruit two Assistant Managers to join their Packhouse day shift team.

Role Overview:

As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing production staff, managing training and motivation and ensuring quality standards are consistently met. You will work closely with Sales, Technical and Warehouse teams to coordinate product allocation and maintain operational efficiency. Additional responsibilities include handling projects, enforcing company policies and deputising for the Evening Shift Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage production staff, promoting a culture of teamwork and high performance
  • Plan and organise production schedules, monitor efficiency and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Maintain quality standards and ensure operational targets are met
  • Support cross-functional teams including Sales, Technical and Warehouse to coordinate product flow
  • Handle projects and enforce company policies effectively
  • Deputise for the Evening Shift Manager as required
