Assistant Estates Store Keeper

The Estates Stores Assistant is a vital support role within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the Estates Stores service. Reporting to the Estates Stock Controller (Band 4), the postholder will assist in the day-to-day handling, recording, and distribution of Estates stock, ensuring that materials are readily available to support maintenance and project teams across the Trust.

This role requires a methodical and proactive approach to stock handling, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and service responsiveness. The Estates Stores Assistant will support the use of procurement and inventory systems, help maintain organised and secure storage environments and ensure that stock movements are properly documented in line with Trust procedures.

Main duties of the job
  • Support the receipt, safe storage, and timely dispatch of Estates stock, ensuring materials are available to meet operational needs.
  • Accurately record stock movements using Trust systems, maintaining up-to-date inventory records and assisting in stock checks.
  • Assist in processing requisitions, delivery notes, and returns in accordance with Trust procurement procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised stores environment, adhering to health, safety, hygiene, and security standards at all times.
  • Respond to queries from Estates staff and provide front-line support for order collections and stock availability.
  • Work under the direction of the Stock Controller to ensure efficient use of space and resources within the stores.

Job responsibilities
  • Participate in regular audits and assist in the preparation of stock usage and performance reports.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements and contribute to a culture of continuous service enhancement.
  • Plan and coordinate multiple stock management activities, including scheduled audits, cyclical stocktakes, and ad hoc inventory reviews, ensuring alignment with Estates maintenance schedules and project timelines.
  • Organise and adjust delivery and dispatch schedules to accommodate urgent requests, maintenance priorities, and unforeseen supply chain disruptions, liaising with Estates teams and external suppliers to minimise service impact.
Person Specification
Education
