Assistant Countryside Access Officer

Are you passionate about the outdoors and countryside management? Due to retirement, we are seeking a practical, enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Assistant Countryside Access Officer. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, improving local nature reserves, and making a positive impact on the visitor experience.

About the Role:

  • You will play a key part in the day-to-day management of Local Nature Reserves, picnic sites, and countryside facilities. Your duties will include:
  • Carrying out practical site work such as clearing and relaying paths, installing steps, felling trees, and maintaining site infrastructure.
  • Inspecting and monitoring sites to ensure safety, accessibility, and a welcoming environment for all visitors.
  • Supporting the implementation of management plans, grant schemes, and environmental initiatives.
  • Organising and supervising volunteers and working parties on practical projects.
  • Assisting with countryside events and education programmes.
  • Responding to site emergencies and supporting the enforcement of site regulations.
