Job summary

A financial services company in Newcastle upon Tyne seeks an Assistant Accountant to manage financial transactional processing, including accounts payable and receivable. The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified with at least 5 years of finance experience, preferably in an SME. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, supporting management accounts preparation, and performing reconciliations. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential for this dynamic role within a small finance team.

Qualifications

  • AAT qualified or equivalent standard.
  • Ideally, part/newly qualified in a finance-related qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance function, preferably in an SME.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft 365/D365.
  • Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day responsibility for financial transactional processing.
  • Input supplier invoices daily and reconcile statements.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Perform reconciliations and resolve variances.
  • Daily updates on cashflows and banking transactions.
