Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Caerphilly to assist with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.79 - £22.56 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Accountant in providing financial advice and reporting on specific grant schemes to Directors, Heads of Service, and project boards.
  • Prepare and produce grant budget monitoring reports, financial submissions, and management information to agreed timetables.
  • Assist in the preparation of service and grant budgets, including year-end accounts, claims, and financial outturns.
  • Provide advice and support to managers in preparing budget options, ensuring compliance with grant funding requirements.
  • Monitor expenditure on grant-funded schemes, ensuring accurate coding, claim submissions, and compliance with grant conditions.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant Level 4 financial qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales OR Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 4 (or equivalent).
Experience:
  • Experience working in a financial environment, providing advice and analysis on budgetary and financial implications.
  • Experience in budget monitoring, budget setting, and preparation of year-end accounts.
  • Experience in financial aspects of grant funding.
  • Experience of liaising with operational managers and staff regarding financial matters.
Requirements:
  • Commitment to high standards of financial management and service delivery.
  • Ability to travel to other work sites when required.
  • Full UK Category B driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes.
